It's That Time of Year Again...

I really struggle with greed this time of year. There seem to be advertisements and catalogs everywhere, full of things that I can't afford. It is hard sometimes to be content with what I have.

While I was praying the other day, I flipped open The Imitation of Christ and read the chapter entitled "On How We Are to Conduct Ourselves in Our Desires." It seems that whenever I flip that book open, whatever chapter it opens to is just what I needed to read. This little prayer really spoke to my heart:

"Lord, You know what is best for me; let it be done according to Your will Give me what You will, in whatever measure You will and at whatever time You will."

My God is the same God who created the earth out of nothing, the same God who parted the Red Sea, the same God who fed the Israelites in the desert, and the same God who rose from the dead. Could he not give me anything in the world, if it was His will? He knows what is best for me better than I do.
