Katelyn the Butterfly

At last, the long-awaited pictures of the metamorphosis of Katelyn the Caterpillar to Katelyn the Chrysalis to Katelyn the Butterfly...

On Sunday, October 3, I noticed that Katelyn's chrysalis had changed from its jade green color to transparant. I could see the orange and black pattern of her wings through the chrysalis.
We went to Mass, and when we returned home, this is what we saw:

A beautiful Monarch butterfly! We took her to visit my grandmother and released her in the garden. She perched on Mary Beth's finger for a few seconds before flying for the first time. The last we saw of her, she was flying towards a nearby field of flowers. Hopefully, by now she has made it to her winter home in Mexico!
